Memorial Kadinjaca

“The fourteenth kilometer fell down, but never will- Kadinjaca”. That poet’s thought has being said and remembered for decades in the area of Uzice , as  an historical significance of the battle of Kadinjaca, a legendary hill settled 14 km from Uzice. This is the  place of defense battle, fought in November 1941, at the height of Second World War . People defended the Republic of Uzice, the only free territory  in the fascistic occupied Europe. Although small in numbers and unarmed compared to the powerful German occupier, Tito’s Partizans tried to stop the attack of the Germans to the city, to defend the Republic of Uzice and protect the main retreat of Partizan army from the attacked Uzice to Zlatibor. Now there stands a memorial complex, in the honor of the soldiers of “Radnicki Bataljon”,  and there is also a permanent museum setting.
